About Haven of Hope Marriage Ministry - Turkey - Haven of Hope - Turkey

v:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} o:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} b:* {behavior:url(#default#VML);} .shape {behavior:url(#default#VML);} Our Vision for the Ministry in Turkey is two fold first it to encourage the English speaking workers while they are in the field, and to enable them to continue their work with the Turkish people, and to help enrich their marriages. We also have a desire over the next 4-years to reproduce ourselves by training and raising up couples (English & Turkish speakers) to do what we are doing with couples so that when we leave the field there will be couples to carry on the work of caring for couples that need some help in their marriages."May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

Quote from a worker couple in Turkey. "If we need to work on our marriage, we must pack up the family, fly home and stay with family. While home our time will be divided by taking care of personal business, visiting family and friends, and trying to work on our marriage. It is a gift you bring to us to have this ministry available for us here."

Quote from Jayson Knox, International Turkish Network. "healthy marriages is critical...Turkey is a hard field and it is hard to keep workers on the field for so many reasons...to see any of these dear ones head home before their assignment finishes is tragic...for the families, for those who send them, to those in Turkey who watch the witness of their lives closely...It is not that we just have to re-invest tens of thousands to recruit, train and deploy more workers...how much better to strengthen the marriages of those already there."

Northwest Fellowship's Family Ministry is excited about our newest ministry: Warehouse 56

Warehouse 56 is a ministry designed to talk to pre-teens on subjects that they deal with daily and enable them to be leaders in thoughts and action. That is why we use "Grapple", a curriculum that is tailored to speak to pre-teens about three key area:Relationships: whether it's peer-to-peer, younger siblings or adult authority, it's important for pre-teens to understand why relationships are important.
Faith: the greatest relationship for a pre-teen is that of their own relationship with God. We discuss topics related to faith in Warehouse 56. We endeavor to provide solid Biblical answers to pre-teen questions about who God really is and why He is important in their young lives.Choices: with the importance of relationships at this age, often times pre-teens are asked to make important choices. Warehouse 56 is a place to discuss how, when and why to make good, wise choices even when it seems to go against the peer influences. In fact, we want pre-teens to understand how they can be positive influences and leaders at this young age and then carry this on in life.

We meet every Wednesday night at 7pm and Sunday morning at 11am.

"Heading Home" - Haven of Hope - Turkey

In less than 30 hours Pat and I depart for Austin. We are excited about returning for the holiday season. It will be great to see our sons, daughter-in-law, grand kids, and of course our church family. I was looking at our calendar and there are not too many empty places. So we know that the time will really fly by. In the past couple of weeks I have been writing to folks about "heading home." As I began to think about "heading home," I realized that in a big way we were not really "heading home," but heading for Austin. Why would I think that? Simply said home for me is a place that is our own, not necessarily that we own, where we go for peace and security.

Several days ago, I talked with Pat about what I was feeling and thinking about regarding "heading home." As we talked about it we both came to the same conclusion. We are excited about going to Austin to visit and we know that we are going to enjoy our time. However, in June of 2008 we believe that God called us to Turkey to help couples strengthen their marriages without having to leave the country. We sold our home and car and felt total peace about moving to live in a foreign country. For the past 11-months we have lived in a house that we now call home. It is a home that is about a quarter of the size of our former home in Cedar Park. We traded our car for riding a Dolmish, mini bus, or walking around town. With that said I can honestly say that I am not complaining, because Pat and I truly have experienced "the peace that passes all understanding." We have been very content and filled with His peace. As we talked, we decided that we are going to Austin for the holiday season to enjoy family and friends, but when it is time to leave Austin, we will be" headed home" to Turgutreis, Turkey which we believe will be our home for the next 5 -years at which time we will return to Austin where we will once again be at home. If you are ever in the area, please stop by you are always welcome at our home.

Haven of Hope Turgutreis, Turkey - Haven of Hope - Turkey

It is so hard to believe that 9-months have elapsed since our arrival here in Turgutreis in January 09. It has been an amazing year. Upon our arrival, we wondered how long it would take for us to get networked so that the word would get out for those needing help. It did not take long, the first week we were here, I attended a regional conference where I met a couple that indicated that they would contact us soon. In February we were contacted by that couple letting us know of their desire to come to us for a "Marriage Intensive." Since that phone call, we haven't looked back. We have been busy every since! We count it great joy to be able to help couples that are hurting. We also have been able to provide Pre-marital counseling for 2-couples. God is so good.
The couple that we worked with are connected with a sending agency out of Canada, and because the couple had good results from their intensive they let their home office know about their positive results. We were contacted by their home office and asked to consider being available for 17- couples that are spread around the Eurasia area. Their leadership likes the idea that their couples in crisis could leave their post and come to Turgutreis to receive care. We will be speakers at their "Euarasia Conference" in Tunisia during the first week of November. We will return to America 10-days after the conference to visit family, friends and to raise support for 2010. We already have an Intensive, a Marriage Workshop, and Marriage Conference on the calendar. We love you and appreciate your prayers and financial support. We can't do what we do without you.

Answering the Call - Haven of Hope - Turkey

What a surprise for us to hear the Lord calling us out of our comfort zone into a time of ministry in Turkey. We are awed and humbled that our Lord would call us.

The call began December 2006 with our first visit to Turkey and was confirmed with our more recent visit of May through June 2008.

He has opened multiple doors for ministry for us to walk through. We have had nothing but encouragement from the workers there to return to them. The Lord has put a love for the Turkish people and the counry on our hearts that we cannot deny.

ApplicationHow do you start your day?Make God a priority. It is impossible to have a priority without the investment of time and resources - this develops a relationship. You can't build a relationship with God without an investment of your time and resources (energy, focus and even some financial investment)Buy a good Bible. Set aside time to pray and read the Bible.Prioritize it.It will be in you, and if it's in you, the chances it will be in your child go up exponentially.

About Northwest Fellowship's Family Ministry - Family Ministry

Welcome to NWF Family Ministry – where both children, pre-teens, teens and parents come together on Sunday mornings and during the week to enjoy times of fellowship and growing as a family the way God intended. The areas that make up our Family Ministry are as follows:

HarvestLand is our nursery through early childhood morning program. Our nursery for infants thru 30 months is a safe, caring and nurturing environment. Older two year olds thru Kindergarten explore an introduction to their Creator in an exciting, creative, and interactive way. Parents help the children during the week with the concepts learned on Sunday through the resources provided.

HarvestKids is our 1st through 4th grade elementary program. Learning God’s Word through several different and unique environments makes our Sunday morning experience inclusive to all families. Parents help the children during the week with the concepts learned on Sunday through the resources provided as well as join in on the fun from time to time.

Family Time Production (F.T.P.) is a one hour production for parents and kids where families are encouraged to learn the virtue taught each month to our second hour HarvestKids. This production combines storytelling, drama, lights, music, and video to entertain and challenge families. It's also a great way for kids to invite friends and their families to attend a NWF program! There is something for everyone at F.T.P.

Warehouse 56, NWF's Pre-teen Ministry is our 5th and 6th grade ministry. Pre-teens are God's next generation leaders, as such we strive to equip our pre-teens with the proper perspectives on what it means to be a leader and not a follower. That means making choices based on what is right and not necessarily what is popular. Pre-teen ministry also focuses on the vital importance of relationships at this age. Not only right relationships, but valued relationships are key to a young person's growth into the teen years. The most important relationship is that with Jesus, so this focus is always at the forefront of this ministry. Parents are encouraged to talk to thier pre-teens during the week leading up to Sunday about the subject matter discussed during the Warehouse 56 "Grapple" session.

Pre-teen Worship Team is a commitment to our firm belief that kid's like to sing! But it is more than just singing, we strive to teach the pre-teens about praise and worship for our awesome God. As well as focusing on God, pre-teens learn to lead younger kids in worship through hand motions, dance steps and worship time events, such as HarvestKids worship time. Pre-teens like to sing, but they really love to worship. Pre-teen Worship Team meets every Wednesday night from 7:30 - 8:00 pm in the Warehouse 56 room.

CORE youth ministry is NWF's teen/student ministry. CORE is about reaching teens with age appropriate ministries: Middle School and High School focused. Partnership with parents for this age group is encouraged through the relationship parents and small group leaders build during the tenure of the teen in the ministry. Wednesday night CORE functions are the foundation of growing relationships with the teens while enjoying fun activities and diving into key topics important to this age group. Parents are involved through on-going communication with the CORE leadership to strive to reach all teens with the relevent gospel of grace.

(1) We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God.

(2) We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

(3) We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His substitutionary and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

(4) We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit and faith in Christ are absolutely essential.

(5) We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. The Holy Spirit also gifts the believer for ministry.

(6) We believe in heaven and hell. Those that are saved will receive a resurrection of life and those that are lost will receive a resurrection of damnation.

(7) We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
